Patrícia Belchior

Biography

Patrícia Belchior is an Assistant Professor at the School of Physical and Occupational Therapy at McGill University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Dom Bosco Catholic University in Brazil. She completed a Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Florida in the Occupational Therapy department. The focus of her Ph.D. was smart technology, aging and cognition. Lastly, her postdoctoral work focused on cognitive aging and was also completed at the University of Florida, department of Clinical and Health Psychology.

Research Program

Patrícia Belchior’s research focuses on aging, cognition and technology. Specifically her research involves the use of computer/video games to improve cognitive skills in individuals with mild cognitive impairment. She is particularly interested in understanding the impact of such training in the everyday life. Another aspect of her research involves the examination of how functional impairment has been assessed in individuals with mild cognitive impairment. More specifically, she wants to understand when functional impairment becomes pathological.
