Alexandru Hanganu

Biography

After my Doctoral studies at Kishinau Medical University "Nicolae Testemitsanu" (Moldova) in collaboration with Kiel University "Christian-Albrechts" (Germany), I pursued post-doctoral research at Université de Montréal, CRIUGM with the supervision of Dr. Oury Monchi. After that I continued my post-doctoral research at Univeristy of Calgary, HBI and then returned to CRIUGM for a short post-doc with Dr. Sylvie Belleville. My research concentrated on cognitive performance and neuroimaging patterns associated with age-related neurodegeneration

Research Program

Ageing is a stage in our life that all of us will experience. It is still challenging to maintain a healthy ageing and a highly productive cognitive performance.
I investigate the behavioral and neuropsychiatric patterns and their influence on the neuroimaging data in elderly and in patients with neurodegenerative diseases (Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease). Defining these patterns allows the identification of clinical and neuroimaging markers with the highest potential of predicting future cognitive impairment by generating predictive models using python-based libraries.
