Welcome among us!
The Centre de Recherche de l’Institut Universitaire de Gériatrie de Montréal (CRIUGM) is, in many regards, a crossroad for students. It is a pluridisciplinary research center thatthat offers various academic training opportunities in a setting fostering students’ interactions. Whatever your status might be (student, intern, visitor), you must know that students occupy a key role in the center. Due to the center’s affiliation with Université de Montréal, most researchers are professors at the university. However, associate researchers from other universities in the province of Quebec are also affiliated with the center and strengthen inter-university collaborations. Furthermore, other collaborations are international and numerous students at the center come from other countries.
Our missions
Students represent a living force in the research center. Approximately 300 students and 35 post-doctoral fellows actively participate in the scientific and social lives of the center (updated in November 2014). Students are represented within many committees by a team of 5 PhD students and 1 post-doctoral fellow. The purpose of this team is to inform students of news affecting their life at the center and to allow their voices to be heard amongst researchers and the direction, most notably at the researchers’ assembly. Other missions include :
- students representation at the researchers’ assembly
- administrative and social news transmission
- welcoming of new students
- resource/contact persons
- student / post-doctoral fellow status
- information for foreign students
- social and academic integration
- intermediary between students and direction (suggestions, ideas, conflicts, grievances)
- organization of student life
