Sven Joubert, Ph.D.
| Dr. Joubert obtained a PhD in neuropsychology at the Université de Montréal. He then continued his postdoctoral studies in the Neurology and Neuropsychology Unit at the Timone Hospital in Marseille (France), under the supervision of Prof. Michel Poncet. He also was a member of the Laboratoire de Neurophysiologie et de Neuropsychologie de l'Équipe INSERM EMI 9926 (Marseille, France). Today, he is a researcher at the Centre de recherche de l’IUGM and professor of Psychology at Université de Montréal. | Research interests My research interests mainly focus on investigating profiles of neuropsychological impairment in different neurodegenerative diseases of the brain such as semantic dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, as well as in individuals presenting with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) who do not reach full-blown clinical criteria of dementia. More specifically, I am interested in investigating profiles of semantic memory impairment in these diseases as well as their neural correlates. I am also interested in the cortical organization of semantic memory in the healthy adult subject using different neuroimaging methods including structural and functional MRI and MEG. At a more specific level, I am particularly interested in perceptual-mnesic processes involved in face processing and recognizing familiar people, as well as in clinical syndromes in which we observe deficits at such levels of processing (ex. prosopagnosia, semantic agnosia). I also participate in ecological cognitive intervention projects aimed at remediating semantic memory in patients presenting with semantic impairment which affects their ability to function normally in everyday life (N. Bier, J. Macoir).
